Our Story
Experience a blend of culinary expertise and warm hospitality at our cozy Idyllwild location.
Canadian born Janie Oliver started baking in her great grandmother's kitchen at the age of 5. At 15, she had her first job making rum balls at the local bake shop and at 22, dabbled in the restaurant business.
For over two decades, she has been the sole proprietor of The Sunflower. Ms. Oliver lives with her two giant, fluffy dogs and one grumpy werewolf in Idyllwild, California.

Join us for a culinary journey through a mountain setting filled with nature's serenity.
I have always thought that food is something to celebrate. The idea of it has been lost to many people over the years. With our busy schedules and longer work days, eating out or grabbing something quick became the norm as opposed to a special occasion.
For me, going out to enjoy a meal has always been a celebration and I've taken that passion and put it into preparing something wonderful in my own kitchen. I prefer the latter of course, simply because I can control the consistency of each dish that's served as well as the company you keep. Luckily, I'm not alone in my adoration of an exceptional meal and the interest in cooking at home is the cool thing to do!
Call us anytime for catering, Cabin Catering®, delivery or come by the bakery and enjoy something sweet on our back deck and picnic garden. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
